The French Art de vivre and the strength of Brazilian nature

At Design Week you could meet the thrills of Baccarat. The company continues to write the history of light, as it has done since its first collection of chandeliers, created in the mid-19th century. A story that – between heritage and innovation, sophistication and new technologies – combines the past and the present language. New projects were on display at the Milan Fuorisalone, where they lit in the wonderful setting of Palazzo Morando.

For the occasion Baccarat worked with important and talented international designers: from Arik Levy at Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola at the Brazilian brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana.

The Campana collection is called Fusion and it stems from the extraordinary alliance of two material types and two different expertise, the combination of French Art de vivre and the strength of Brazilian nature – a meeting of cultures and different creative territories.

From lanterns to flambeau chandeliers, pendant lamps covered in colorful and woven rattan to the 24 lights chandelier at Zenith revisited and enhanced by arms and bamboo lamp, the models by Campana have different DNA and the primary use of materials, making them truly valuable objects through a process of hybridisation.

Each creation, whether covered or only enriched from natural fibers, is available in limited edition and gives new meaning to the principles of collage, revealing its organic form in creating contrast between clean surfaces and worked ones. Crystal looks to a new future “in motion”, as a source of unconventional, exotic light, at the crossroads between art and design.

“This collaboration – Campana stated– was founded with the idea of mixing the cyclical nature, nature with the sophistication of manufacturing Baccarat. The Brazil has an abundance of natural fibres and materials that is not yet overdeveloped, that we want to meet with European elegance“.
